PATH welcomes professionals, including psychologists of all theoretical orientations and scientific perspectives.
Membership does not require certainty. It does not require agreement regarding claims of non-human intelligence. It requires only a willingness to thoughtfully consider one important professional question:
If humanity were ever confronted with information that fundamentally altered our understanding of ourselves and our place in the universe, how might psychology best help people respond?
Whether one believes such a day is imminent, distant, or may never arrive, preparing thoughtfully for its possibility reflects one of psychology's highest callings-reducing suffering before it begins.
Emergency managers prepare before disasters, public health professionals prepare before epidemics, and disaster psychologists prepare before crises.
PATH believes psychology should also prepare for the possibility of a paradigm-changing disclosure—however remote or uncertain one believes that possibility to be. Preparation has always been among our profession's highest callings.
We invite you to help shape that preparation.
Together, we can help ensure that if history presents humanity with such a moment, our profession is ready to respond with wisdom, integrity, resilience, and compassion.
